The Bomb Game.
- Use it for practicing asking questions or making sentences.
- Use it for brainstorming/reviewing vocabulary.
- Easy to modify for different levels.
- Works with larger classes too (divide students into smaller groups).
Materials.
- A timer or stopwatch.
- A ball or a soft toy or even whiteboard markers.
How to Play. (S = Student)
- Show Ss a timer and secretly set a time-limit, e.g. 3-5 minutes.
- Give one S a ball (or a soft toy or whatever else is available).
- The S with the ball has to ask any other S a question.
- After S asks a question, S passes the ball to the person he/she asked.
- Repeat Steps 3-4 until the timer stops.
- The S with the ball when the timer stops is the "winner".
- The "winner" then does his/her assigned task (see below).
The Winner could be asked to....
- ask everyone a question.
- ask a total of 5 questions (Anything and Anyone is ok)
- ask the teacher 3 questions
- do some other task related to the topic or structure studied that day
Variations
- Instead of asking questions, Ss make sentences.
- Instead of asking questions, Ss call out vocabulary.
- The winner can set the time limit for the next round.
- The winner can set the task for the "winner" of the next round.
